The first thing I always buy when the days are getting lighter and longer and spring is in the air is a new season coat. It is the perfect piece to invest in for the new season and there are many reasons why:
A coat still keeps you warm, but the material, colour and texture (depending on the coat) already let you sense that spring is coming soon!
When selecting only one piece to buy for the new season, it doesn’t need much else.
You can easily build the rest of your favourite new season pieces around a coat. A manteau gives you the direction of the look you want to achieve. Once you have selected your favourite coat, shoes and bags come along easily.
I love to wear my coat also as a dress, especially the new, light silk raincoats by Prada. Wear them with mules and a favourite bag, tied together with a silk ribbon in your waist and you are perfectly dressed.
This season’s coats come in a light fiber material which feels and looks like silk but is water-resistant. Cos and Prada make nice ones, another benefit is that you can even ball them up so they fit even into your small handbag, just in case it gets too warm during the day.
