The sound of Cannes – celebrating female empowerment

Bay of Cannes

During this year’s Festival Du Film in Cannes women are more than in the centre of attention. Not only in the usual way. Of course, there are beautiful gowns by famous designers but this time the female side of the festival has also strong feminine activist touch.

The jury and the director’s list consists mainly of women and last Saturday women directors and stars, like Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek and Kirsten Stewart walked up the red carpet of the Palais to stand up for equal rights and against sexual discrimination which is the massage of the organisation 50/50 by 2020 .

This year`s opening film by Asghar Farhadi  Everybody Knowsis about the dramatic story of a man, Javier Bardem, being spun into a family drama dominated by a strong female figure. And not to forget the Thriller 355 with stars like Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard.

Our friend and DJ, Maggy Smiss, who plays every year at the festival and also spins her music in August at the Martinez Hotel on La Croisette put together her latest playlist for you to celebrate the growing power of women.
