Patina – art & nature, a conscious journey

Nestled in the breathtaking Fari Islands of the Maldives, Patina Resort is a model of sustainability and a testament to the harmonious coexistence of luxury and nature. Just a 45-minute boat ride from the Maldivian capital, Malé, this eco-conscious haven is a pristine sanctuary where guests can escape the cares of the world and reconnect with nature.

Located in the environmentally conscious Fari Islands archipelago, Patina fits seamlessly with its commitment to environmental responsibility. Co-located with two other luxury hotels, the resort reflects sustainability in its architecture and daily operations. The meticulous 10-year effort to create the islands included the planting of over 350,000 plants, underscoring a dedication to environmental harmony.

Designed by renowned Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan, Patina Maldives blends seamlessly with its stunning natural surroundings. The resort features 90 contemporary Beach and Water Pool Villas and 20 Fari Studios, each designed to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. Guests are encouraged to immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Maldives while preserving its delicate ecosystems.

As well as enjoying a luxurious getaway, guests can take an active part in preserving the awe-inspiring beauty of the Maldives, with workshops such as the Ceramics and Coral Conservation Workshop, where a biologist explores how ceramics can help restore coral reefs.

Patina Maldives boasts an exquisite art collection, with a standout piece, James Turrell’s Amarta, arguably the centrepiece of the island’s art collection. Amarta is the latest in the renowned US artist’s long-running series of ‘Skyspaces’, his mesmerising work transforms light into a breathtaking experience, creating an immersive ambience that blends with the Maldivian environment. Patina Maldives has also partnered with Singapore-based contemporary art consultancy, The Artling, to curate a collection of specially commissioned artworks that appeal to socially and environmentally conscious travellers who seek a deeper connection with their travel experiences, which can be seen throughout the resort.

With 18 exceptional restaurants, this gastronomic haven caters for all tastes. From seaside grills with the freshest seafood to sophisticated fine dining, each venue captivates the senses. Patina’s culinary landscape, rich in variety, ensures a flavourful journey – whether exploring Maldivian specialities or indulging in international cuisine. Our favourite was the Helios Beach Restaurant, especially for its succulent lamb and expertly grilled fresh Maldivian fish.

It’s also worth mentioning that there’s a dedicated campus island for staff only, with sports facilities and accommodation that allows for a real life away from work. The obvious openness and friendliness of this arrangement is a sign of its success for all concerned.
