This week we celebrated several things at once, and the setting could not have been more right.
The latest spring edition of the Sotheby’s Realty Magazin and the new Jasmin Khezri Collection summer pieces came together for an evening at the Hofgarten, Munich’s most quietly magnificent garden, tucked behind the Residenz and Odeonsplatz, where the Italian Renaissance somehow found its way to Bavaria and never quite left.
Friends and clients arrived, magazine in hand, moving between the new pages of the issue we produce twice a year for Sotheby’s Realty and the pieces from the current collection. Alongside them, two further guests brought their own distinct worlds into the conversation. The Berlin jewellery house VIERI, founded by Guya Merkle, whose work approaches ornament the way a sculptor approaches material: with intention, with restraint, and with an unmistakable feeling for colour and form. And the abstract paintings of Swiss artist Sylvia Agnes Meister, whose canvases hold a particular kind of charged stillness, surfaces that ask to be looked at slowly.
What struck us most about the evening was how naturally these four projects found each other. Editorial, fashion, jewellery, painting. Different disciplines, different scales, different origins. And yet the conversation between them was effortless. A shared instinct for texture. A common belief that colour is not decoration but language. An appetite for going further, for following a creative idea past the obvious and into something genuinely unexpected.
This is what we hope every IRMASWORLD gathering becomes: not a launch, not a presentation, but a room, or in this case a garden, where people and ideas meet on equal terms and leave having seen something they had not thought of before.
