The Four Seasons Hotel Madrid. Spanish Modernism, retro chic, and a contemporary vibe

By IRMA

There is a perfect balance of polite discretion and magical opulence at the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid. Something not so easy to find these days and after a weekend in town we realized that this combination is best presented by the überfriendly staff, the location and old school elegance.

10 reasons to make the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid your oasis when visiting the Spanish capital:

1.ON TOP OF IT

No doubt the roof top terrace, with its many plants and restaurant is stunning. The hotel has a gold certification from LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for building quality and sustainable practices.

3. SPA & POOL

Spain’s largest urban Spa and an all-year-round heated roof top pool that relaxes you by only looking at it. We advise to definitely go for a swim and then chill on the roof top terrace overlooking the city and far away countryside around.

4. SLEEP LIKE A BABY, LIVE LIKE A QUEEN

This motto would perfectly suit the description of a hotel room at the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid. The Hotel & Resort Group is known for their comfortable duvet bedding and exceptional materials in the room, like solid walnut floors, marble and chrome and plenty of mirrors. All this adds to an elegant retro glamour. Hermès bathroom products, Villeroy & Boch china, Roederer bubblies in the house bar and soundproofing throughout the hotel is state of the art. Bonne nuit!

5. LIVING IN A MUSEUM

The 2000 artworks displayed in rooms, corridors and public spaces are works by young Spanish artists curated by ex-Sotheby’s Paloma Fernández Iriondo. You immediately feel a local Spanish visual language that is naturally part of the hotel.

6. FOOD!

The hotel’s culinary stage is the clubby and colourful top-floor restaurant, where the Andalusian chef Dani García cooks his take on southern Spanish ingredients: The langoustine carpaccio with pine nuts, payoyo cheese and ajo-blanco ice cream for example.

7. WE LOVE COLOURS

And the colour concept and scheme of this hotel is excellently curated. From the staff’s uniform, to detailed napkins, fabrics, flower arrangements and food on your plate. In a very Spanish way, colour is beautiful.

8. GREEN & TASTY

Typical Spanish dishes and a variety of healthy breakfast dishes. All dishes come with the finest, local ingredients and are a feast for the eye. Not to forget the dark chocolate truffles you can enjoy with a cup of tea in your room upon arrival. Or the more healthier version, the Anti Stress smoothie made with Apple, Celery, Spinach, Almond Milk

9. A BALCONY WITH A VIEW

Puerta del Sol, one of the busiest squares in the city, not only for tourists but more than ever after the pandemic a madrileño crowd meets here.
Same for the hotel, a place where local like to meet for lunch and dinner.
The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (don’t miss the Goyas) is just across the street, and the Prado museum a 10-minute stroll away.

The hotel itself had a major development. Seven historic buildings – including various bank HQs and a newspaper office – have been combined to form Centro Canalejas, a powerhouse containing a commercial gallery, a food market and 22 private residences, as well as the new Four Seasons.
