PARIS: Shoes are no longer plain and simple, they are becoming an important point of attraction when it comes to putting an outfit together this coming season.
They are bejeweled with Swarovski stones, decorated with silk and satin bows or Marabu feathers and when you take a close look at them every single detail has something special. It almost reminds me of one of my favorite movie scenes when Kirsten Dunst in Sofia Coppola’s movie Marie Antoinette gets a new shoe delivery from her favorite designer arriving at Château de Versailles. No pair of shoes looks the same but each of them becomes an outstanding statement piece.
What does it mean for the rest of our outfit, will we keep it simple or take each accessory we wear with special care and focus? Belts and bags will also be decorated with golden fittings, flowers or fringes and the entire outfit looks like the designers had Haute Couture in mind when they were designing pret-à-porter.
Anyhow, I cannot wait to put my feet into any of the shoes see here this coming season and I am starting already this summer with my favorite slip-ons by Rochas and No°21 by Allesandro dell’Acqua.
