A fragrance etiquette guide on how to use scent – and win a bottle of AERIN Eau de Cologne

I remember my grandmother putting a special emphasis on her Eau de Cologne which she always carried with her. The very large and very beautiful main glass bottle was placed in her dressing room, but she had a small bejeweled crystal bottle in which she filled up her daily ration to carry along in her handbag and she never left the house without it.

AERIN by Aerin Lauder came out with a new series of Eau de Cologne which comes in a beautiful large bottle. According to Aerin Lauder, her new Rose Eau de Colognes are a refreshing, effortless way to instantly create or change the mood.

IRMA wanted to find out which other benefits come with the use of Eau de Cologne, besides having a pretty, large glass bottle in your bathroom.

Eau de Cologne is the fresh little sister of eau de parfum and eau de toilette. The term is used for scented fragrances in a concentration of 2-5% essential oils, using citrus oils as well as extracts of lavender, rosemary, jasmine or rose, as in the case of AERIN. Here’s how to use it:

  • Use it sparingly by putting a fingertip against the top of the bottle and wetting it with the cologne. Then dab it behind your earlobes and on the inside of your wrists for a light touch of fragrance.
  • When you need an invigorating pick-me-up during the day, apply a little bit of eau de cologne onto your palm and rub your hands together quickly. Then massage your neck and behind your ears and deeply inhale the scent.
  • You may also use a little Eau de Cologne as a deodorant. Spritz it under your arms, the alcohol will kill odor-causing bacteria, and the fragrance will leave a fresh scent.
  • When it’s hot outside, spritz a small amount onto a handkerchief, then rub it over your forehead, arms, the back of your neck or anywhere else you are feeling warm. The alcohol will evaporate quickly, leaving a cooling sensation.

WIN A BOTTLE of Bamboo Rose Cologne which smells of White Bulgarian Rose, Bulgarian Rose Absolute, Rose Infusion, and Rose Centifolia which are enhanced by cool Jasmine Petals, Sicilian Bergamot, Mandarin Blossom, and dewy Green Leaves. The creation of this Eau de Cologne was inspired by Kyoto’s stunning moss gardens and Arashiyama bamboo grove.
