Headbands forever

In the 80s, headbands were a must and I remember them being covered and padded in vibrant velvet tones or sleek satin finishes. Getting ready in the morning seemed easy: you just had to put in your headband and were perfectly groomed.

In Paris the girls from the Right Bank called themselves BCBG BonchicBonGens and you could recognize them with their velvet headbands in burgundy velvet holding back their shiny hair. Lady Di was a headband fan and Sarah Jessica Parker wore a headband in Sex in the City when going out at night. The good girls in Disney movies like Snow-white wore headbands and they have been a symbol of the good & nice girl.

All that changed when Alessandro Michaele designed headbands for Gucci in their signature colours or like giant satin bows, framing the face. Miu Miu bejeweled them this spring with bright, pink coloured plastic flowers and they are a perfect alternative when you do not want to wear a bathing cap when swimming in the sea.
