Our guest editor Daniela Agnelli reports from Paris Fashion Week:
PARIS: It’s almost like a dream, especially with the constant summer heat that makes you feel as if you are in a bubble and one has to be pinched and open the eyes wide to see that all the beauty and elegance these days in the French capital is actually real.
Beginning with a picnic at the Musée Louis Vuitton in Asnières which took us back in time and made me realize that all I need is a beautiful Art Nouveau house in a lush green garden.
Sunday night at Atelier Versace was all about fairy-tale beauties, or should I say Coachella festival inspired hair (Donatella wears her hair short theses days, which suits her very nicely). As Donatella puts it, she wanted to show the softer side of Atelier Versace that evening.
Monday was bright and colourful starting in the morning with Schiaparelli, and fur was taking one step further with coloured patchwork details and new proportions. Talking about coats, our favourites were the ones by Raf Simons at Christian Dior. The mix of proportion, material and texture was new and so far makes the couture coats one of my favourite garments.
The Chanel Haute Couture Joaillerie presentation which was all around the Talisman was a sparkle of the most beautiful craftsmanship I have seen so far in jewellery. It was given an almost futuristic twist (symmetrical hair cuts with bright red lips) on Tuesday when Karl Lagerfeld showed Chanel at the Casino de Paris, models playing roulette and black jack while elegant, classic uniform suits were shown in between game tables.
Not to forget the stunning evening at l’Opera de Paris which was taken over by Giambattista Valli for a soireé spectaculaire where everyone felt that haute couture has definitely taken its place in evening wear…
