BERLIN: Sketching does not require much, whether you do it with words, a drawing pen or a camera. Sometimes it is a picture you see or have in mind or a thought that makes you want to rethink something you have done before or will do in the future.
And then you have your little helpers which put your mind going. A book, a film, a picture or just anything. For me it is mostly in books and objects. Any kind of books but mostly visual ones that tell a story in pictures or translate something visually which I have not seen that way before.
Things are everywhere. They constantly influence our eye, whether we like it or not. This is why sometimes I do need a visual break which I can either find in nature or a book like one of the latest by TASCHEN where you have a selection of the nicest cabins on this planet.
The fashion collections each season inspire me because of their variety. I am fascinated by design, form, texture and material, and in fashion I see everything coming together to tell a whole story. The same with beauty. How do you enhance beauty, fake it or just hold on to it can be a fantastic visual journey.
When you walk around keep your eyes wide open and I can tell you sketching is like editing. It puts things in order and place and makes this world make more sense.
