… and as you know I travel quite a lot. One reason is, because it is my job to see the world for the latest stories, interesting people to interview and new places to discover. And the other reason, because I love to find things I cannot get at home.
Once arrived in another country I can’t stay too long in my hotel room, instead I walk around the street, gather new places and get lost in a different culture.
One of my favourite spots to learn more about a new country, besides galleries and restaurants is a local beauty shop.
Sometimes I find a beauty product at a small beach market stall, sometimes in a vintage apothecary in the old town or in a trendy shop in a big mall. It’s important to keep an open mind, ‘cause the next trend or the next must have is maybe just around the corner. You can imagine that my luggage is always quite heavy when I am heading back home. Until now! Because recently I found an ally for my beauty shopping: niche-beauty.com.

You want to know what I bought for my current summer holiday in Portugal?
In my hand luggage there is always some make-up. But just some essentials I can use multiple: like rouge as Lipstick, Foundation as concealer or highlighter as eyeshadow.
The „Vital Skin Foundation Stick“, Westman Atelier is really perfect for every handbag. It is small and you can use it just at the zones you need it- and I use it as a concealer too.
My lips are always dry in the plane or when I travel through different climate zones. So I always have the „Rosehip Seed Lip Cream“ from Aesop with me.
On a journey my make-up is very clean and basic. But the Jillian Dempsey, „Lid Tint“ in Smoke is always with me. Because it is perfect for smokey eyes, but you can also use it with a small brush and draw an eyeliner or do the best kept make-up secret: tight lining with it.
My essential in the hand luggage: the „Color + Light Pressed“ from Kosas. It is a highlighter und blusher in one product and you can use it perfect for a touch up on the go.
My creams, lotions and co. are always packed in little reusable plastic bags so if there is something damaged in the luggage – no problem. My trick: Roll your beauty products in socks or put them into your shoes. This works like an airbag for them.
I don’t want my bags too heavy, so I only take the most important products with me. Like a very good cream, that works best for your skin. My favourite is the Augustinus Bader “The Cream”, because you can use it in the morning as well as in the evening.
And of course, I always have a good sunshield with me like the “Eco Sun Spray” from SeventyOne Percent. And at the beach I use it also for my head to protect my hair and scalp.
If I plan a trip to the beach, I also take the Juno Antioxidant + Superfood Face Oil from Sunday Riley with me. This is the perfect on top care and an After-Sun treatment, than I mix it with my face cream and use it as a mask
For my hair I keep it simple, but it is important to use good products. Cause sand, sea and the water in the pool are stressful for the hair. My all-time-companion is Leave-in-Conditioner. I comb it to the ends of my hair to protect it!
The Hair by Sam McKnight Cool Girl Hairspray is so cool for summer styles and it is so small enough you can also take it with you in the hand luggage for a weekend trip.
