L’HÔTEL BELLE PLAGE À CANNES
A renovated 1930s building in Cannes that has been welcoming summer guests for decades, it was the talented interior designer Raphael Navot who created its immaculate undulating façade and its décor in natural materials: Light wood, plaster, stone or even bricks on the roof, whose colour recalls the bright hues of the Estérel on the horizon. In a Mediterranean atmosphere that is both contemporary and calming. If you prefer the old Côte d’Azur flair, book a room on the opposite side of the road in the VILLA BELLE PLAGE, set in a lush garden but without a sea view.
Probably the most spectacular reopening on the Côte d’Azur in years. Meticulously renovated by interior designer Tristan Auer, the Carlton has (finally) reopened its doors in time for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Under the management of the Regent Hotel Group, this Cannes landmark has managed to celebrate its mythical past while creating a new, modern interior. With a redesigned lobby and a new layout of restaurants and bars, the Carlton has gained even more elegance and style. And sitting in the landscaped courtyard with pool and garden restaurant, the hustle and bustle of the Croisette is completely absent.
The Bijou Plage beach club in Cannes, well known to aficionados of the genre and loved by locals, has just been taken over by the Experimental group (already present in Venice, Menorca and London). With a view of the Iles des Lérins, visitors can enjoy a new summer menu and new inspired cocktails, the group’s signature.
A discreet bistro run by chef Bruno Baccati, Le Pompon is just a stone’s throw from the Palais des Festivals. Focusing on a collection of small plates to share, the menu changes according to what the market has to offer and the season. Not to mention the wine list which is teeming with nuggets.
ASTOUX & BRUN, la Boutique
Don’t worry if your fridge is empty and your friends are coming to your summer house for a pool party. Pick up fresh oysters and a selection of seafood straight from the boutique of the famous Astoux and Brun restaurant across the Vielle Port. Open until 9pm, they also have a selection of chilled wines.
STREET WORK OUT PATH
Cannes is all about looking good, staying young and being fit. For this reason, the city of Cannes has built a Street Work Out Park along the city (enter STREET WORK OUT PATH IN CANNES in your Google Maps) and go for it. There is a jogging path along the beach, many stations with fitness machines where you can work out and get a tan at the same time, or you can join a yoga session around the Palm Beach just up at Bijou Plage with a stunning view of the Iles de Lérins.
