Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, the former bank on Passeig de Grácia has traded in its corporate flair for a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, designed by Patricia Urquiola to create a flair that makes you feel at home in Barcelona.
The fine selection of restaurants and bars, the private lush garden at the rear, the rooftop pool exclusively for hotel guests (from 10am to 7pm) and some suites with balcony or terrace add to the feeling of being at home in Barcelona.
Here are the advantages that await you.
WORK & PLEASURE
The perfect place to combine work and pleasure. There is an atrium in the back garden where you can have meetings or private dinners or just sit in the patio garden with your laptop (good internet) and relax or work most of the time alone, as the hotel’s layout is very spacious.
SMALL BUT GREAT
For only 120 rooms, the facilities are big, from the rooftop pool to the spa and indoor pool in the basement and patio garden. The interior was designed by Spanish interior designer and architect Patricia Urquiola. Much of the furniture is bespoke or made for the hotel by leading Italian and Spanish manufacturers, with bouquets of fresh flowers and curated books in the entrance lounge area, all adding to the feeling of being at home.
THE SPA
The basement spa and pool area has a dedicated treatment room for your hair and scalp, with products by Spanish specialist Miriam Quevedo. From the moment you enter the hotel via a suspended access ramp that crosses a courtyard over a decorative soft carpet, you feel like you are entering a sanctuary.
IN ROOM DELIGHTS
As well as a GOOD NIGHT tea, which has a real calming effect, every room has a yoga mat and the perfect bedding for a good night’s sleep.
Take your mat down to the lush courtyard garden or use it on your terrace for your morning session. There is a kettle to make tea throughout the day, and toiletries also by Miriam Quevedo.
EAT DELICIOUSLY
It is hard not to eat well in Barcelona, but the Mandarin easily tops this with its rooftop restaurant, Terrat, for unique cocktails and Peruvian gastronomy with views of the Barcelona skyline. Breakfast at Blanc has all the good and healthy things you want in the morning. From quina, fine artisan cheeses and jams to Spanish bread, tomatoes and olives, plus all the side dishes and eggs you could want.
