IRMA Sails in Cannes

CANNES: I am off for a two-day yacht trip on a magnificent sail boat. We will start at the Vieux Port in Cannes and sail straight to the beautiful Lérins islands which are right in front of Cannes. Both islands are very small and only on the Ile de-Honorat is a small monastery, which is still inhabited by some monks who make delicious l’Eau de Vie of the fresh herbs grown on the island. The Ile Sainte-Marguerite has two small fish restaurants and a fort which hosts a spectacle once a week.

It would actually be enough to just sail between and around the islands and go to shore maybe for a lunch or a walk through the pine woods of the island. But if you sail towards Saint Raphael you will discover more and more small bays which invite you to take a swim in the sapphire blue sea. Take everything with you to make your time on board perfect and remember that at night you need a sweater or cotton shirt like Coco had at the beginning of her fashion career, when she made a blue and white sailor shirt combined with a pair of sluggish trousers a must-have look not only off shore.

In my Louis Vuitton backpack I carry everything I need for two days on a boat. Remember there is not a lot of space on board and you rather want to be the sportive type instead of arriving with an army of trollies carrying too many different outfits. One pair of The Row sunglasses protect me from the sun, Tod’s shoes are perfect for the boat especially at night when it might get chilly. I take my Smython’s diary on every trip I go. Short trips have a pink cover and longer trips ciel bleu or dark blue. The old harbour in Cannes is right at the bottom of the old town of Cannes where you can find many great restaurants. My favourite is BRUN, where we have an assortiments des fruit de mer before we leave. Coco Chanel is my icon for this two-day trip and an original Breton shirt is in my backpack for sure.
