MUNICH: I do sometimes wonder if men actually take care of their appearance. I am not talking about suits, watches or shoes. I am talking about the most important detail that you will always remember: the face. To get an answer I meet with Mr. Frank Legart, CEO of ambuja, who just won the GALA SPA AWARDS 2015 for his breakthrough product “wanderlust elixir”. The good thing is, I can also use it.
IRMA: Men prefer a fuss-free approach to skincare that is quick and easy to follow. What would be your advice for a morning routine?
Frank Legart: Thanks for asking. A good bet is to start the day with a cold shower followed by a sassy splurge on effective skincare. First, I use ambuja’s urban foam that is an antioxidant cleanser. It deeply purifies, brightens and neutralizes my combination skin that is often exposed to different climate zones and skin-stressful a/c. It is my top-notch key element of skin protection offering kind of enviable and smooth skin. It is very easy to be applied to wet skin. The next stop will be my special care ceremony.
Secondly, after removing all micro particles, I apply an elixir or serum depending on the state of my skin. Especially in winter or stressful times, I have an extremely needy skin, so I use ambuja’s age-defying nostrum, wanderlust elixir plus a small amount of the urban indulgence of ambuja’s capsule cream to really pamper my thirsty skin. I mix both components in a ratio of 2:1.
Thirdly, after a night out I have to add some of ambuja’s overnight eye cream around the delicate eye area to minimize dark circles and puffy eyes.
As for my part, it is absolutely important that the skincare I use is less greasy or uber-rich, i.e. I do not like a shiny, glossy but matte complexion of my shielded skin.

IRMA: What makes ELIXIR especially effective for men and why should they use it?

BTW, the term elixir is derived from the Arabic term of Al Iksir meaning quintessence. For me it is a concoction, a care potion. Men tend to need a maximum of hydration during the day and less creamy care.
IRMA: How often do you use ELIXIR?
F.L.: At least twice a day. Sometimes I re-apply it in the early evening as an energizing promoter for lustrous skin. And to tell you my secret, I often apply some of my wife’s dewdrop elixir to have this extra-moisture infusion.
IRMA: What is the most effective care after shaving?
F.L.: The most efficient skin protection is wanderlust elixir by ambuja that lifts, plumps, shields, soothes irritated skin and hydrates at once by providing real skin nutrition and accelerating healthy skin growth. It leaves my shaved skin look healthy, radiant and transparent.
IRMA: Regarding healthy living, what would be your ideal tip for men to boost the skin from inside?
F.L.: Curcuma. That is my fave, for the time being my absolute must-have in preventive health care. I take two pills a day. Known as kasturi manjal, turmeric has been used in Asia for 1000 years and is a major part of Siddha medicine. In India, for instance, it has been used traditionally as a remedy for stomach and liver ailments, as well as to heal sores, basically for its antimicrobial properties. As a fresh juice it is commonly used in many skin conditions. The active component is curcumin, which is an intercellular semiochemical that is said to have a wide range of biological effects including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial activities.So it is a perfect companion for healthy-looking skin being an ideal radical scavenger and de-stresser. Turmeric is considered highly auspicious and holy in India, by the way.
