Amalfi Splash

In the land where la dolce vita was born—where cliffs tumble into a cobalt sea and the air is perfumed with citrus blossom—luxury has found a new rhythm. La Piscina, A Caruso Pool Club has opened its doors this weekend, elevating poolside leisure to an art form. Tucked within the storied walls of Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, perched 350 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea, the new club is less a swimming destination and more a sensorial voyage, suspended somewhere between sky and salt spray.
Here, in this exquisitely corner of Ravello, the notion of the Italian villeggiatura—that eternal summer escape—is reborn.

The hotel’s iconic infinity pool has been reimagined, now fringed by sleek lines of modern design softened by the palazzo’s 11th-century grandeur. It is a place where the days unfold slowly, with purpose, anchored in the philosophy of ozio creativo—a distinctly Italian mode of idleness that celebrates curiosity, craftsmanship, and repose.
Already for spring break guests are invited to begin their days with sunrise yoga or sight-jogging around the mist-veiled hills of Ravello. Mornings turn to afternoons of painting, pasta-making classes, or meandering through Caruso’s terraced gardens—a cascade of Mediterranean colour and scent. Later, the sea beckons: hidden coves reveal themselves by boat, sunbeds offer stillness with a side of Amalfi spritz and a spritz of fresh lemon.

Two new private cabanas stand as elegant nods to the glamour of the 1960s Riviera—a time when luxury was tactile, intimate, and always accompanied by a glass of something effervescent. Designed for two, these havens offer not only panoramic views and spa treatments amidst pines and citrus, but also a dedicated butler, fresh fruit, and sparkling wine on arrival. It is barefoot luxury, layered in linen and local lore.

Food, as always in Italy, is more than sustenance—it is soul. At the Caruso Grill, La Dieta Mediterranea takes centre stage: a lifestyle anchored in freshness, balance, and joyful moderation. Executive Chef Armando Aristarco brings the coasts of Amalfi and Cilento to the plate, weaving in culinary rituals through complimentary classes in pizza, pasta, and that golden Amalfi elixir, limoncello.

And then there’s the craftsmanship: the soul of Campania embedded into every surface. Local artisans have restored elements of the original poolside, infusing it with Mediterranean colour and tradition. Most notably, the hand-painted fabrics of Livio de Simone—a 1960s icon reborn—bring vibrant joy to umbrellas, loungers, and ceramics. It’s a visual love letter to a bygone era, reinterpreted for today’s discerning traveller.

At its heart, La Piscina is not just a pool club—it is a reawakening of summer’s finest ideals: leisure without rush, beauty without excess, and luxury measured not in opulence, but in the poetry of the moment.

Welcome to La Piscina. Welcome back to yourself.
