A short break in Geneva. How to spend it.

Geneva might not be on your bucket list, but if you feel like getting a new perspective for your life / work balance just in time for 2020, Geneva is the place to be, as the city has to offer lots of quality time. The contrast of the Swiss elegance and charming old part of town to the modern art and many fine contemporary restaurants in town is worth a visit.

Geneva stands for a charming but highly international city surrounded by the most breath-taking mountain scenery of Mont Blanc. Spend a day in the city and go skiing in Megève or go wine tasting along the Rhone.

Peruvian cuisine is a la mode , especially when Chef Gastón Acurio builds a culinary concept with the freshest ingredients and a team of dedicated young talents to create dazzling tasting dishes and delicious Pisco Cocktails. YAKUMANKA is located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Geneva.

India Mahdavi designed the new café La Durée in Geneva at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues, which is a design piece, a showroom of a typical Mahdavi interior design oeuvre and a real temple de la gourmandise.

If you have problems falling asleep, a night at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues is mandatory just because of their signature beddings which makes you dream. If you cannot stay the night have a piece of cake at the legendary Le Bar des Bergues and get an idea of Geneva style.

The lake invites you to walk everywhere around in this city.

Les Bains des Pâquis, established in 1872, the public outdoor pool at the lake Léman, Lake Geneva is known for the best urban swimming in Europe . The water which comes from the river Rhone is crystal clear and invites you to dive in from their various heights jumping boards. One of the most beautiful urban pools with a spectacular view on the jet de l’eau and a stunning location in winter when Geneva meets on a sunny day for oysters or Raclette by the water.

There are many modern art Galleries in Geneva , one of my favourite is SKOPIA by Pierre-Henri Jaccaud who is specialized in swiss artists, skopia.ch, showing Pierre Schwerzmann at the moment.

The Patek Philippe Museum in the heart of the PlainPalais district where many galleries are now located. The Patek Philippe Museum is showcasing since 2001 the most prestigious creations of the brand’s master watchmakers. You can admire an extraordinary collection of watches, musical automata and enamel miniatures from the 16th to the 19th centuries, created in Geneva and if you can bring time book a tour, you will learn a whole lot.

A place to visit is the MAMCO, MUSÉE D’ART MODERNE ET CONTEMPORAIN for their curated stunning exhibitions and if you do not have a lot of time visit the Librairie La Dispersion, where you can shop art books and download podcasts about modern Art critics.
