Beginning of September is my favourite time at the French Riviera. The sea is still warm, the air fresh and you want to stock up on your sun intake and savoir–bon–vie just before winter is calling.
We visited the Villa Marie Saint-Tropez in Ramatuelle which combines typical French interior, spirit and living style under one roof in a Pienéde forest surrounded by the vineyards of Ramatuelle.
Midday Rosé at the beaches of Ramatuelle or sunset walk along the vineyards, the light in September is as pretty as it gets. The last days of summer have something melancholic and we want to spend as much time outside as possible.
The Villa Marie’s pool and intimate rooms feels like staying at someone’s private home. With an excellent service and fine cuisine this small luxury hotel makes you feel like being part of the family, already after one day.
An a la minute breakfast menu, omelette with fresh herbs is a classic to start the day. The interior decoration embodies the French style with colours of the Côte d’Azur and many objects and art that create a certain kind of Wunderkammer charm. The minute you enter you feel rested.
You lose a sense of time when you sketch on your terrace overlooking the garden up to the blue horizon. All of the sudden the afternoon light becomes a certain softness and you think, ok let’s drive down the beach to go for an evening swim.
The scent is unique you’ll only find it along the coast. It is an odeur of pine trees, lavender, Eucalyptus and Jasmin that give a sense of magic to this place.
Although the Hotel is not situated at the beach you’ll find many elements that make you think the sea is just at your doorstep. Coral hues, shells and Mediterranean inspired print create a perfect holiday vibe.
