If you want to know what time it is, do you still take a look at your wrist? Or does your hand reach out to your smartphone in your bag, just in case you are not holding it in your hand yet? The watch on your mobile phone’s display is just a minor matter, a locking screen. Behind it you find all your digital communication, social media and lots of features for your everyday life.

Who needs a watch then? Well, taking a look at your wrist seems to be way more elegant than immersing yourself into that glaring display over and over again. And with this thought a time-piece becomes an accessory, a piece of jewellery, matching and emphasizing your style.

Garmin is a specialist in lifestyle designs with its fitness tracker smartwatches, but here comes the next level: vivomove HR is the latest coup. A smartwatch-hybrid which combines a smart fitness tracker with the timeless design of a mechanical watch.

IRMA found out what this timepiece reveals at second glance with a plugged OLED-touch display beneath the clock face which only becomes visible if needed.

This is how it works: Once the watch is connected to your phone, you activate the display through a simple gesture or touch. Incoming messages or phone calls will be shown automatically and you can just take a simple glance at your wrist and decide how important this message or call might be and if your phone is needed.

The 24/7 heart monitor and stress level monitor VO2max allows you to check on your pulse and stress level when- and wherever you are. Your virtual fitness coach also recommends you a simple breathing exercise if needed.

If you like to go for a swim like IRMA does, you won’t have to do it without it either as it is water resistant.

You will also find pre-installed sports apps for jogging, cycling, weight- and repetition workout. The new Garmin wearable is also kind of your very personal coach. If you need music in your ear for your workout, then you will be able to easily operate your playlists via this smartwatch.

Stylewise you can choose between sporty designs with a silicone wristband or a more elegant version with a leather or stainless steel wristband.

And last but not least: The Find My Phone App might help you from time to time to reduce your stress level when rushing out of the house and not finding your phone right away.
