For her latest series POP OF COLOUR, Simone Bresele has chosen a stunning array of vases in a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues. The idea for the collection blossomed when a cherished client requested a vase from her, a request that sparked the beginning of something far greater. Inspired by the resplendent spring that surrounds her atelier in the Allgäu, where the mountains and fruit trees awaken to life, Simone’s creative journey was fuelled by nature itself. Thus, her POP OF COLOUR series emerged, vibrant and full of life, much like the landscape outside her window.

In her beloved Rome, the mornings begin with a ritual that speaks to the soul: a cup of Earl Grey sipped on the balcony, accompanied by the melodic songs of the parrots and the gentle hum of the porter chatting with the neighbours. These quiet, intimate moments nourish Simone’s spirit before she sets off on her bicycle, gliding through a city that is itself a living canvas, brimming with stories and inspiration at every corner. Come June, a dream of hers will come to life—her very first interior project in Rome, a beautiful opportunity to blend her two passions with unparalleled grace.
When it comes to creating, Simone’s process is rooted in form. It is always the form that guides her, with the clay itself sometimes offering subtle hints as to how the piece should take shape. And yet, it’s often the form that dictates the colour, rather than the other way around. “Just like in interiors,” she says, “sometimes I walk into a room and immediately see the wall colour in my mind.” For her, the connection between colour and form is intuitive, unfolding naturally through the materials and the space around her.

As an interior architect, Simone often considers art as an integral part of the design, and her ceramics seamlessly merge into this vision. She has a deep admiration for the exchange between artists and gallerists, and she understands how to make art come alive in a room through thoughtful placement. Sometimes, her ceramics—especially the Loops—become the perfect complement to a carefully curated art collection. Their form and colour add a subtle tension without ever competing with the other pieces. In fact, Simone is particularly excited about exhibiting her Loops at the Bode Gallery this autumn, where they will have the chance to shine in their own right.

There’s also a dream she holds dear: to create a large-scale wall installation, made up of many individual ceramic pieces. The vision is clear in her mind, and the perfect wall has already been found. All that remains is the luxury of time to bring it to life.

For Simone, vases are an essential part of any interior—whether they’re filled with flowers or left as objects of beauty in their own right. She collects antique vases and jugs made from ceramic, porcelain, and Murano glass, often pairing them with her own creations. Each vase tells its own story and is typically one-of-a-kind, adding a distinct charm to any space. What fascinates Simone most is the interplay between the fine porcelain and the tactile, imperfect nature of her ceramics. This contrast—delicate yet raw—imbues a room with an unmistakable sense of character, elevating any table setting or arrangement to something truly unique.
