This issue of the IRMASWORLD Magazine started with a table covered in fabric swatches, recipe notes from our travels, half finished illustrations and far too many cups of black tea. For the new Fall/Winter edition, we want to take you behind the scenes and show you how it all comes together: the making of our new issue, chapter by chapter.

THE COVER STORY

This season we were drawn to the mountains. Our cover story, Modern Alpine, is a love letter to a landscape that strips everything back: the cold, the crisp air, the smell of wood. We photographed our winter looks of the Jasmin Khezri Collection between Sils Maria, the Engadin and Schloss Fuschl, pairing a heavy loden coat with hand woven baskets, tailored vests and cotton dirndls. Did you know that spending at least 30 minutes in nature is said to make you a happier person? We took that very seriously while shooting.
WHY WE DO IT

A magazine in print may sound odd for a digital magazine, but we wanted to see it on paper. It is the one place where our travels, our collection and our love for illustration live side by side, and where we can give you an inside view of how we work. It is also why every issue comes with a gift: an illustrated poster for your wall.
TASTES LIKE…

We love cooking and we love travelling, so naturally the two meet in the magazine. Tastes like… is our collection of favourite recipes from the places we have been: the handmade potato gnocchi from Chesa Marchetta in Sils Maria (the best gnocchi we have ever had), the shaved artichoke salad by Gioconda Scott at Il Moudira in Luxor, lemon cake with crème fraîche from Villa Mabrouka in Tangier, allumette fries from the Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay outside of Paris and lemon sorbet from Gigi’s at the Orient Express La Minerva in Rome. And yes, there is also the little horse shaped butter sablé Hermès served during the Salone del Mobile in Milan. Find the recipe on page 9.
VINTAGE, REIMAGINED

Some of our favourite pieces are not new at all. In this issue we show how we combine vintage finds with our own collection, and how we give old vintage furs a second life by upcycling them into something entirely new. Save the date for our upcoming vintage Pop Up at Stephanie Thatenhorst’s Showroom in Munich on the 21st and 22nd of October. We look forward to seeing you.
TWO COVERS, ONE ISSUE

We could not decide, so we made two. One shows our main character IRMA in a red jacket against the skyline of New York City, the other finds her in an orange coat in an autumn birch forest. Both are illustrated by hand. Which one do you prefer? Tell us on Instagram at @irmasworld or send us a mail to info@irmasworld.com.
TAILORED IN GERMANY

Our collection is made locally, in Germany, by people whose craftsmanship we know and trust. From the first sketch to fabric swatches, buttons and the final press of the iron, we take you into the atelier and explain how and why we produce close to home. It also gives us a kind of freedom we love: we release new drops whenever we feel like it, not when a fashion calendar tells us to.
ART FOR YOUR HOME

There is an illustrated poster in every issue. This season it is Club Hiver: snowy peaks, a little Engadin village and an afternoon in the deck chair. Frame it, hang it, and let it take you to the mountains whenever you need it.
GIFT IDEAS

The last page is dedicated to gifts that are one of a kind, from our hand embroidered pouches to the small things we discovered along the way and simply had to share.

“A magazine is never really finished. It is simply handed over to you, to read, to cook from, to frame and to keep.”
