MUNICH: There are two kinds of getting back and getting started again… The classic one in January after New Year’s and the one which got in fashion everywhere lately and is celebrated mostly in the Anglo-Franco way — back to school or la rentrée, as the French say.
It is always hard to get back to everyday life but little things make it simply nicer and that is why I prefer la rentrée to the Happy New Year kind of getting back. First of all September can still be a warm and sunny month and one of my favorite childhood memories is buying new pens and books, ready to get back to school.
We thought of all the things you would need when getting back to work after a nice vacation and that make everyday life just a little bit more beautiful.
Get some stationery which gets you in a writing mood when you want to send notes to your friends.Get a set of different black felt pens, they are the best for getting your ideas on paper. A new sketch or notebook is essential, not only to write down your thoughts but also to start sketching the life around you, sometimes a drawings just make more sense. A new pen which is so elegant that it will find a constant place on your desk and wherever you go, and of course a new handbag, instead of a new school bag. Every season needs a new handbag, one which will be your favorite and nothing else. A snack, a sweet treat, a little something that reminds you of summer and some coloured pencils which I use not only for drawing but also to take notes when they are well sharpened.
