The South of France is like a hub for modern art lovers. Whether you are interested in painting, sculpture or ceramics, you will find not only the most important collections and well-established foundations, but also many galleries with a creative approach to their exhibitions. All you need is a car that will get you from A to B and provide you with all the comfort you need for a drive along the azure sea, the winding roads and the orleander-lined motorway.
Here’s our pick of what you can experience on the Côte d’Azur this summer. We drove the new Maserati Grecale to see the venues.
ORA ÏTO, GRAMMATOLOGY AT GALERIE PODGORNY

Ora Ïto’s first exhibition at the Podgorny Gallery in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, titled *Grammatology, Part One*, explores the grammar of volume, a fundamental aspect of his artistic practice. His works are composed of the most basic geometric shapes—lines, circles, squares, and rectangles. Created from plates of black or colored aluminum mounted on a white composite base, these pieces systematically present his formal vocabulary. Their stark, geometric simplicity and vivid monochrome palette reflect both modern purity and a pop art twist, embodying the dual aspects of Ora Ïto’s visual universe.

Hans Hartung and Anna-Eva Bergman were significant figures in modern art, and the Hartung-Bergman Foundation showcases the extensive body of work they created throughout their lives, as well as the place where they lived and worked for many years. Following the villa’s refurbishment in 2022, the public can now visit this remarkable architectural complex, a 20th-century heritage site.
In consideration of its local impact, the Foundation also features the food kiosk “Chez Marcelle.” Operated by Marcelle, who has been cooking on the premises since 1973, first for Hartung and Bergman and now for the Foundation, the kiosk serves homemade regional specialties, including the famous pissaladière. It is a perfect day trip for anyone interested in exploring the art scene of the Côte d’Azur.
