Tracht, Unbound

From the IRMA Archive to the current Jasmin Khezri Collection: how a single vintage piece can turn tradition into something entirely your own.

We love to collect vintage Trachten pieces from around the world, but for Oktoberfest we stay local and found some unique pieces at our favourite vintage stores in Munich. German Tracht from the 1950s to the 1980s, with unique fabrics, colour combinations and elements from the past.

Tracht was never meant to come out once a year for the Wiesn. It was everyday clothing, cut for real life. So for this editorial we opened the IRMA Archive and paired our favourite vintage finds with pieces from the current collection, to show that tradition works best when you stop treating it as tradition.

THE SUEDE JACKET

Take a narrow cut Trachtenjacke made of suede with short sleeves from the 1970s and combine it with our new pencil skirt Mady, with its straight cut and very comfortable fit. On colder days, add a sleeveless hand knitted sweater.

 

THE LODEN JACKET

A narrow fit Loden Trachtenjacke, grey classic Trachten socks with loafers and a playful bag like our vintage Mini Basket Allegra. Feminine, yet classic.

 

THE ROSE PRINT SKIRT

A narrow cut, shorter button down Trachten skirt in cotton, with a traditional rose pattern and green ribbon details, makes this piece ideal to combine with our Trachtenjacke Wally and the polka dot Cala blouse Lotta in silk. Mixing patterns while staying in a similar colour scheme creates a playful, feminine look.

 

THE DIRNDL, SIMPLIFIED

Wear a chunky sweater over your Dirndl and leave the apron at home. This way you get the look in a simpler way. Adding classic blue pants makes a hand crocheted sweater like our Sweater Lucia stand out even more.

 

THE TRIANGLE SCARF

Our triangle scarves, like Scarf Margret or the lighter Triangle Summer Scarf, are soft, hand crocheted from Merino wool and cashmere for a comfortable, warm feeling. They add colour to your everyday look or your Dirndl.

 

THE EMBROIDERED JACKET

Look out for hand embroidered Trachtenjacken from the 1980s. They have puffed sleeves and a straight cut, embellished with naive images that add an artisanal detail to your denim look.

 

THE CROCHET CARDIGAN
