A Weekend in Antiparos: The Insider’s Itinerary

A Weekend in Antiparos: The Insider’s Itinerary

Pack Loose, Plan Little: A Weekend Guide to Antiparos’s Quiet Alchemy

Paros’s smaller, quieter sibling rewards those who arrive with the right wardrobe and no fixed plans, only a loose itinerary and an appetite for long lunches.

There is a particular alchemy to Antiparos, the smaller, quieter sibling to Paros, favoured by those who have tired of Mykonos but not of the Aegean. It rewards those who arrive with the right wardrobe and no fixed plans, only a loose itinerary and an appetite for long lunches.

What to Pack

Pack lightly and pack loose. This is a weekend for easy sundresses in linen or cotton voile. Reversible vests earn their place for the same reason island life demands it: mornings by the pool, evenings on a taverna terrace, one garment doing the work of two. A bag tailored in Pierre Frey fabric, structured but one of a kind by that unmistakable print, signals intention without trying too hard.

The uniform for the weekend: a woven straw bag, a hand-embroidered tasselled tote, a medallion-print cotton dress and a reversible floral vest, each piece doing double duty between pool and taverna terrace.

Movement Before Breakfast

Mornings begin with movement. A yoga session and massage booked with Cecilia Cerza is less indulgence than infrastructure. Cecilia comes to your house, what a treat.

For those who prefer their exercise with a view of the water, a reformer class at Beach House is the alternative, followed by morning coffee on site.

Fishing boats and yachts share the same sheltered bay at Beach House, where Greek cuisine, cocktails, reformer pilates and a concept boutique all sit under one roof. Morning coffee here is a habit worth forming.

Lunch at Peramataki

By midday, appetite calls for Taverna Peramataki in Soros, best reached after a swim, plates of grilled fish and island vegetables arriving with the unhurried rhythm the Greeks have perfected. Don’t miss their homemade orange cake.

The Retail Map

Shopping on Antiparos rewards with unique style. At Beach House, a concept store, its racks are shadowed by a small, well-edited selection of organic cosmetics, open from 10am. From there, the island’s retail map extends to Rooster, a concept store with a similarly curatorial eye and beautiful jewellery, and Leto, whose boutique holds its own quiet authority, and Yria, whose handcrafted ceramics and jewellery have anchored the island’s shelves since 1977.

The addition this season is Kyr Lakis, newly arrived from Athens, a family business now in its next generation, working in woodblock prints translated into fabric, curtains, pillows and porcelain, each piece carrying the weight of craft. Dive into their creative world at their little house boutique.

A Lighter Register

For something lighter in between, Afros serves homemade food, largely vegan, in a setting suited equally to a full meal or simply a coffee and a healthy snack, the kind of place you go to stock up your kitchen in your holiday home if you only want to do light cooking.

Culture by the Sea

Culture rounds out the weekend at Gallery Antiqua, a pop-up transplant from Athens, showing modern and contemporary work by artists like Brian Rochefort, who clearly understand that an island audience is no less discerning than a city one.

Taken together, it is a weekend built less around beach clubs with constant music, and more around swim, eat, shop, move, feel good, repeat, the kind Antiparos has always been rather good at.
