A Pre-Christmas Stay at Suvretta House

A pre-Christmas stay at Suvretta House feels like stepping into a quieter, more elegant rhythm of winter. Everything moves a little slower here — from morning light over the lake to evening walks towards the sunset at Lej da Champfer. It is a place where tradition is not staged, but lived, and where comfort comes with character. Between grand salons and the newly built spa, Suvretta House invites you to look closely and linger longer.

This is our IRMA guide to the details that make a winter stay in St. Moritz truly memorable.

A pre-Christmas stay at Suvretta House is less about festive noise and more about winter clarity. It reminds us that luxury can be gentle and personal, and deeply rooted in place. This tradition is evident not only in the main lobby, but also in the grand staircase that leads downwards beside large windows, Engadiner woven fabric curtains, and vitrines displaying silver and porcelain from years gone by.

This same mix of tradition and contemporary design is found in the rooms.
Details matter — from bedside lamps to the curve of an upholstered headboard. These are rooms designed for rest, not spectacle. Sleep feels deeper when surrounded by such quiet confidence.

Working from Suvretta House feels surprisingly natural. A well-placed desk, soft daylight and absolute quiet turn focus into a pleasure. Productivity here comes without pressure.

The views are all part of the Suvretta experience. No matter whether you look towards the lake or the mountains, nature becomes part of the interior. Staying on a higher floor makes these moments feel even more expansive. The hotel is distant enough from the village of St. Moritz to be right at the slopes, yet close enough to enjoy an afternoon walk into St. Moritz Dorf.

The new spa has recently reopened its doors following an eight-month renovation by the Swiss architectural firm Ritter Schumacher. The focus is on space and light, which you will immediately notice when you walk along the spacious corridors and enter the swimming hall, which is bathed in golden sunlight.

Even the lift is an experience at Suvretta House. Wood-panelled walls, soft lighting and a feeling of intimacy turn each ride into a small moment of calm. It feels less like transport and more like a moving room.

The Grand Restaurant is a place where time seems to pause. The atmosphere is festive, and the gentlemen’s ties and suits create a fine setting in which to enjoy the cuisine of chef Fabrizio Zanetti. It is a memorable experience. The high ceilings, engraved wooden panels and perfectly set tables make every meal feel special. This setting is equally cherished by younger and older guests alike because it is a special experience.

The breakfast room sets the tone for the day ahead, offering a sense of calm and quiet elegance. Mint-green walls, white linens and morning light come together to create a sense of understated abundance. Choose from a wide selection of Swiss cheeses or more than 12 different cereals. The focus is on quality, not quantity.
