Picnic at the lake with Blanc de Blancs, Ruinart

The picnic is one of the earliest traditions when it comes to alfresco dining.

From the ancient Greeks to Victorian England up through today, enjoying a chilled champagne (in our case) and fine food in nature has never been more popular.

Not only in times when social gathering happens in small groups, preferably outside. Whether you are alone or in good company a picnic is the way of enjoying lunch or dinner with friends in a beautiful setting.

We took the IRMA hand painted picnic box which we have been creating together with Ruinart Champagne and the Munich delicatessen shop Marks.

To make it easy for you we packed two medium bottles of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and Rosé with two champagne glasses and a selection of delicious nibbling food you can put your hands on while enjoying the bubbles.

Just pass by the shop and grab a box with the chilled champagne which by the way also makes a lovely gift to your next garden party.

The artwork is a black line art by illustration artist Jasmin Khezri, the inventor of the illustrated character IRMA and founder of the digital magazine irmasworld.com which holds everything from design to fine travelling, fashion and food for you.

This time of the year is ideal for a picnic, long days and warm temperatures makes you want to stay outside as much as you can. Even a summer rain cannot stop us from finding a dry corner under the trees in the wood, or as we did offshore on a Riva boat at the nearby Starnberger See. Another reason to stay home this year and just indulge in what is already there.

By the lake is the best place for an alfresco experience with friends.
